Knowing Your Place as a Living Stone and Royal Priesthood

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it’s essential for us to understand our place in God as living stones and a royal priesthood. When we grasp this truth, it transforms the way we live and serve in His kingdom.

Understanding as Living Stones:

As living stones, we are part of God’s spiritual house. Just like building blocks fit together to form a sturdy structure, we are essential components in God’s divine plan. Each one of us has a unique place and purpose in His house. We are not insignificant or replaceable; we are chosen, precious, and designed to contribute to the beauty and strength of His spiritual dwelling.

Embracing as a Royal Priesthood:

We are also called a royal priesthood, which means we have direct access to God. We can intercede for ourselves and others, offering up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to Him. Our role is not limited to attending church services but extends to a life of worship, service, and prayer. We have the privilege of declaring God’s praises and bringing His light into a dark world.

Prayer points

  1. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which has all we need for life and godliness. Thank You for the lessons it teaches and for its cleansing power, purifying effect and spiritual nourishment which is so necessary in this time when the foundation of our faith is being attacked in all quarters.
  2. May we sincerely desire the pure milk of the Word so that we may grow in grace, mature in the faith and become increasingly conformed into the image and likeness of the Lord Jesus, in Whose name I pray, AMEN.
  3. Thank You that I am united with Christ and  have a living hope in Him, and an inheritance kept for me in heaven. Keep me, I pray, from all malice and evil speaking, hypocrisy, and ungodly attitudes. Give me a thirst for Your Word so that I may grow in grace and in a knowledge of my Saviour, Jesus Christ. In His name I pray, AMEN.
  4. I thank You that I have been accepted in Christ. What a blessing to be a member of the holy priesthood and able to come boldly into Your presence to offer my sacrifice of praise to You and to humbly lay my petitions before Your throne of grace. Thank You, in Jesus’ name, AMEN.
  5. Dear God, I thank you for choosing you as a living stone and a member of His royal priesthood. “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
  6. I pray for a clear understanding of my unique role and purpose in God’s spiritual house. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”  (Psalm 139:14)
  7. I seek the Holy Spirit’s empowerment to fulfill my role as a royal priest. I pray for a deeper prayer life, a heart of worship, and a passion for declaring God’s praises. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8)
  8. I pray for unity among believers as living stones. Dear God, help me work together harmoniously, supporting and encouraging others. “so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.”  (1 Corinthians 12:25-27)
  9. I pray for boldness to declare God’s praises and shine His light in your daily life. I ask for opportunities to share His love with others. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:16)
  10. I pray for a humble heart and a servant’s attitude as I embrace my role in Christ Jesus. Ask God to help you serve others with love and grace. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”  (Philippians 2:3-4)
  11. Seek God’s guidance in specific areas where you can be a living stone and a royal priest. Ask for discernment in fulfilling your unique calling. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
  12. Commit your life afresh to God, ready to serve as a living stone and a royal priest, bringing honor and glory to His name. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 12:1)

In conclusion, As living stones in God’s spiritual house, we have a unique identity and purpose. We are chosen, precious, part of a royal priesthood, and called to live differently, submitting to authority, and following in the footsteps of our suffering Savior. May the message of 1 Peter chapter 2 inspire us to embrace our role as living stones, declaring God’s praises and shining His light in a world in need of His grace.

Remember, as living stones and a royal priesthood, you are valuable, chosen, and called to make a difference in God’s kingdom. Embrace your place in Him with confidence and humility, knowing that He equips you for every good work. Amen.

God bless you!!!
