Making Godly Decisions
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, one of the significant aspects of our journey of faith is the ability to make decisions aligned with God’s will. Our decisions shape our lives, impact those around us, and ultimately determine the path we walk. Let us delve into the Word of God to understand the principles of making godly decisions.
1. Seeking God’s Guidance (Proverbs 3:5-6):
Our decisions should begin with seeking God’s guidance. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” God is our source of wisdom, and as we trust Him, He directs our steps.
2. Anchoring Decisions in God’s Word (Psalm 119:105):
The Word of God is our light and guide. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Let us immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, allowing its principles to illuminate our choices. Decisions rooted in God’s Word stand firm against the storms of life.
3. Seeking Wise Counsel (Proverbs 15:22):
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.” God often speaks through wise and godly counsel. Seek the advice of mature believers who align with biblical principles. They can provide valuable insights and help us make informed decisions.
4. Praying for Discernment (James 1:5):
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Prayer is a powerful tool in decision-making. Ask God for wisdom and discernment as you face choices in life.
5. Surrendering to God’s Will (Matthew 26:39):
Jesus set the perfect example of surrendering to God’s will. “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.'” Submit your desires to God, trusting His perfect plan.
